Meet Rose!
Rose Ruiz is a dedicated student on track to be one of Westminster High School’s Top 10 Graduates of the Class of 2026. With aspirations to attend Oxford or the University of Toronto, she plans to study neuroscience and become a neurosurgeon. The youngest of three siblings, Rose is also a champion volleyball player who excels in both academics and athletics.
Favorite Athlete, Sport, or Team: I admire Nichika Yamada from the Japanese national volleyball team and number 11 from the German national team, Lukas Kampa.
Favorite Artist, Performer, or Band: The Smiths
Favorite Movie or TV Show: Scooby-Doo.
What She’s Listening To, Playing, or Watching Now: Right now, I am listening to American Boy by Kanye West.
Favorite Thing to Do in Free Time: I enjoy painting and spending time with my black lab puppy, Kai.
Favorite Color: Olive green.
Favorite Animal: My dog Kai
Favorite Part of Being at Westy/Ranum: One of my favorite experiences has been taking biomedical classes at Ranum. This week, we are dissecting a pig, an opportunity I am looking forward to.
Superpower I wish I Had: Freezing time
What WPS Has Meant to Her: WPS has provided incredible opportunities and resources, which I have tried to use to my advantage. I appreciate all the internships and job opportunities; plus, I value the professionalism of the educators with whom I have learned.
Favorite Teacher or Coach Who Has Inspired Her the Most: Kate Herder, my freshman-year physics teacher, had a profound impact on me. She helped me realize that I don’t have to wait for things to happen—if I put in the time and effort, I can create the outcome I want.
Rose’s dedication and ambition will undoubtedly lead her to great success in the future.
