Students at Tennyson Knolls Preparatory School had a special guest visit them this past Monday. To many, he looked familiar from his 2019 appearance on The Ellen Show.

 

Rick Ramirez set up at the gym at TKP along with LaShaun Charles and his videographer, Ariel Garcia ready to seize the day with students. They spent the beginning of the session having fun by dancing and singing along to some familiar Justin Bieber songs. With Rick's background in boxing, it was only right for him to bring a championship belt for the winner of the dance competition to hold up and hang on to for the remainder of the assembly.

 

Before giving the students his three secrets to success, Rick mentioned that not only did he go to the Marines, but he also went to college to obtain his Bachelor's, Master's and is in the process of receiving his PhD. He made a point that even though he struggled in school early on, he was still able to achieve those accomplishments.

 

Passing the mic back and forth to one another, both Rick and LaShaun talked about having respect and resilience, emphasizing that even though sometimes they might feel like quitting, it is important to keep going. Rick spoke about ways they can start responding to their teachers in a more respectful manner. Students were fully engaged in the activities as Rick awarded those with the best listening and focusing behavior throughout the assembly.

 

Former Teacher of the Year, Rick Ramirez, is now a full-time motivational speaker. He travels the country speaking to students and teachers. Apart from motivational speaking with students and teachers, he also consults with them. Something else that Ricky offers is a "Tough Teen Workshop" where older students work to be able to identify what causes their negative behavior.
