FALL ATHLETICS KICKS INTO GEAR
Westy Athletics has launched into its fall season with enthusiasm and excitement. Following a summer of camps, clinics, and pre-season coupled with really intense tryouts, the various teams were finally set. Football, Cheerleading, Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Softball, and Girls’ Volleyball are now underway! This season promises a thrill ride to fans who love to come out and support their Westy Wolves.
This year marks the first year for Nick Ciancio as Westy Athletic Director. He served as Assistant Principal at Sunset Ridge, and before that was the Head Basketball Coach and Dean at Westminster High School. Nick has big plans for the program. “We want to see fans turn out to support the teams and continue to grow. Plus, we also want to get a lot of support and enthusiasm going among the various sports teams” Case in point, the Cheerleading Team came out to cheer at the first Girls’ Volleyball home game against Pomona.
New this year is the “Teal Card.” Seniors 55 and older can reach out to Nick at nciancio@wps.org to get a free entry card to all WPS events including athletics, performances, concerts, and more.
