BOE Celebrates One of the Best Sports Seasons in WPS History 

Student athletes of all ages were front and center as WPS took a moment to recognize one of the best sports seasons in district history and honor those who helped make it happen.

Four teams: girls softball, girls volleyball, boys football and boys soccer all made it to the state playoffs this fall, a remarkable showing due in part to the district’s Westy Futures program, which has focused on providing athletic opportunities for students of all ages. The theme: “All Roads Lead to Westy”.

The football and volleyball teams won their league titles with football coach Chris Helbig and soccer coach Martin Fuentes being named League Coaches of the Year. Softball coach Alex Towers was also named Rocky Mountain League Coach of the Year.

Football

  • Adrian Moreno - North Metro Conference Player of the Year 
  • Carlos Tarango - North Metro Conference Defensive Player of the Year
  • Kevan Bunton III - North Metro Conference Offensive Player of the Year

Volleyball

  • Kiara Deleon Rodrgiuez - Conference Player of the Year
  • Jarely Sanchez-First Team All-Conference

Softball

  • Jaleesa Talmich- Martinez- Honorable Mention First Team All-Conference
  • Magaly Santacruz - Honorable Mention First Team All-Conference
