Board Approves Names for Two New Schools

Last week, the Westminster Public Schools Board of Education officially approved the names for two of our schools: the F.M. Day Center for Integrated Learning and the International School at Harris Park.

The F.M. Day Center will serve as a dedicated hub for Integrated Services, providing a permanent home for the Instructional Services Center (ISC), a day treatment program offering intensive special education services in a structured, therapeutic setting. The building will also house the Transition Program for students ages 18-21 focused on postsecondary workforce preparation, along with district Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE), mental health, and multidisciplinary education specialists.

"Bringing these programs and professionals together in a shared space creates a more connected system of support for our students," says Heidi Weekley, Executive Director of Integrated Services. By uniting expertise, staff can collaborate more efficiently and plan more comprehensively from the start, designing aligned supports that meet the full range of student needs. Weekley goes on, "This integrated approach empowers students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally, building readiness for life beyond school, beginning the day after graduation.

Meanwhile, the International School at Harris Park will welcome students from the Westminster Academy of International Studies, who will be closing their building at the end of the 25/26 school year. The new, globally-minded curriculum includes both Spanish and Mandarin language programs while maintaining Harris Park's well-respected computer science focus.

With the names now official, the district will move ahead with designing logos and branding. We can’t wait to introduce the community to the incredible opportunities these schools will offer.
