STAFF SPOTLIGHT: ALMA DIAZ

Alma Diaz

Secretary - MAA

Alma serves as the  Secretary to the Principal at Metropolitan Arts Academy and is a valuable member of that school and arts community. According to Principal Claudette Trujillo, “Alma treats all students as if they are her own children. She promotes a culture of care and kindness. She is eager to learn about the instructional side of things in the school to better support the staff.  She fosters high expectations for others through what she models herself.” Assistant Principal Alison Mund writes, “Alma is an incredible team member. She has amazing customer service and treats everyone with kindness. Alma is organized, calm and very efficient. We are lucky to have her at The Metropolitan Arts Academy.”  Clearly, Alma is a hero and key supporter to the entire MAA community.

Years in WPS:  I have been working for the district for 4.5 years.  My students go to WHS and MAA. I decided to work for WPS because my kids mean everything to me, and I wanted to be a part of their experience. I was in the PTO and then the President of the PTO. Then President Ryan McCoy encouraged me to apply for the position. Thanks to all the great experiences in PTO and sports, I knew that’s what I wanted to do for a career!

Favorite Food:   Anything seafood!

Favorite Activity:    As a mom of 3, I am very busy.  But I enjoy creating memories with my kids - after school activities, sports, you name it.  I don’t want to miss it.

What I am listening to right now:  I listen to a little bit of everything. Xavi featuring Fabio Capri and Peso Pluma are two of my favorites right now.

Superpower I wish I had:   Leadership. I would love to inspire and guide people to reach their goals.

If I could make the world a better place in one way:   I would spread positivity and joy so that our kids and teenagers can know their worth. They can do it!

What has Westminster Public Schools meant to you?  WPS has meant a lot to my family and me.  It is amazing to see all our students’ growth and achievement.  I love to see the way we engage with the community.  I see it firsthand as both an employee and a parent and how much of an impact WPS makes for all of us.

Who inspires me in WPS (staff, parent, or student):   My kids inspire me the most. They inspire me to be a better person each and every day for sure.

Alma has a daughter Eliana who attends WHS,  a son Armani and a daughter Yhanelly who both attend Metropolitan Arts Academy.
